How a driveway gets poured
Every step explained before work starts. The technical steps below follow published concrete industry guidance from NRMCA.
- 1

Walk and estimate
Tim looks at the job and gives you a free estimate. Ask where the joints will go and what thickness is being priced.
- 2

Subgrade and forms
NRMCA says topsoil and soft spots should come out and the subgrade be compacted and sloped to drain before forms are set.
- 3

Place and finish
NRMCA calls for moderate-slump concrete, finishing only after bleed water is gone, and a broom finish on outdoor slabs for traction.
- 4

Joints and cure
NRMCA says to cut joints within 4 to 12 hours of finishing and keep the concrete moist for at least 3 days.
Tulare and Kings counties
Based in Exeter. Tim drives up to 35 to 40 minutes by freeway for an estimate, and every town page has local USDA soil data, FEMA flood zones and the city’s permit office.
